Bernardo also spoke
about missing the chance to be part of Portugal’s Euro 2016-winning squad due to injury. saying: ‘It’s very sad. I got injured in the last training session. I tore a hamstring and I missed the Euros. It was a very sad moment because it was my first tournament (with the national team).’
‘I don’t have any grudges. I think the sadness I felt when I wasn’t there motivated me to look for something else. That’s where the motivation came from for the great season I had at Monaco. That was part of my journey.’
